I was delighted to open this package with my kids, who were also eager to play with a new toy. They have already enjoyed running away and playing tag with our remote controlled quadcopter, and adding this Super Express Remote Control (RC) Fire Truck will surely add to their fun and laughter.
When you unbox the package, you should be able to see the following, as pictured below:
The firetruck is approximately 13-1/2 inch long and 4-1/2 inch wide, with a height of at least 5 inches. It comes with some attached accessories, such as a ladder. The batteries also come included, which is always good because then we can start playing as soon as the item is received. The remote control transmitter requires a 9v battery, while the firetruck requires AA batteries. The battery compartments on both the firetruck and the remote are additionally secured with a screw. I was too excited to play this with my kids, so in all of our eagerness, I was getting a little inpatient with removing the screws. The screws can be a nuisance. But if you are in no rush, the screwed-in compartment provides additional security to make sure you don’t lose those covers. I know I’ve had many instances where the battery covers have been lost or misplaced on our remote controls, and have resorted instead to rubber bands to keep the batteries intact (=
The front wheels turn left or right, move forward or reverse, which can all be controlled via the remote transmitter. By the way, there is no ‘On’ button on the transmitter itself. The ‘On’ and ‘Off’ button is located on the bottom of the truck.
This Super Express Remote Control (RC) Fire Truck also comes with a power cord. The input is on the rear bottom of the firetruck, and you can recharge the batteries for renewed hours of fun. I mention the location, because finding it can be a challenge. There are several holes in the truck that look just like it, but are meant for screws. Don’t get confused like I did!
The lights on the firetruck blink when you move forward or reverse. I wish there was a siren sound too, but maybe that’s just me being too picky. It’s just another option that can drain out the battery. (If there is supposed to be a siren, then obviously mine did not work on the unit I received). I didn’t find a manual either, but if you have any sense, I guess you should know what to put where and which buttons to press. LOL.
My only significant complaint was that the rubber threads on the tires can come off the wheels. We have tiled floors and hardwood tiles, and when I go too fast or turn too quickly, the rubber thread that wraps around the wheels come off. You need the rubber cover to stay on the wheels because it’s what provides transaction between the floor and the wheels. Otherwise, you’ll just have plastic wheels ‘slipping’ on tiles. In this RC firetruck, they’re not as secure as they look. There’s an easy fix to this issue, so I won’t harp too much on this: just glue the rubber permanently on the wheels. I have Elmer’s glue, which did the trick. I think the rubber wrapping on the wheel is too loose, so the rubber thread comes off. But again, the solution I mentioned takes care of this problem.
Are you looking to keep your kids entertained? You’ll have so much fun as they run away from the truck while it chases them around. They’ll also have fun trying to control it themselves. I know my children did. Just keep in mind this is just a basic toy, if you ask me. If you’re looking for more advanced technological features that is more appropriate for an adult hobbyist, then this is not it. But if you’re looking for basic features that small kids can enjoy (with adult supervision), this toy should suffice their curiosity.
This Super Express Remote Control Fire Truck can be purchased at Amazon, which is available at a 38 percent discount at the time of this writing.
